Georgina works with new and expectant parents. She provides a perinatal psychology and counselling service to Canberra and the surrounding region. Georgina helps families navigate and manage the challenges during this period of immense change.
Supporting new families
perinatal psychology & counselling
Georgina focuses on working with families during the perinatal period with a special interest in supporting adjustment to parenthood, parent-infant attachment and early parenting issues. She works with women pre-conception, including those with fertility issues; during pregnancy and following a perinatal loss, premature birth or birth trauma. She works with mothers and fathers struggling with antenatal mood disorders including depression and anxiety.

About me
Georgina Farrell – Psychologist
As a mother of three young boys herself, Georgina has experienced first-hand many of the challenges that present in the transition to parenthood. She brings a kind and compassionate approach to working with her clients. She tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each family while considering the issues that may have presented during conception, pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period.
Georgina gained full registration to practice as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia in 2006. Most recently she has specialised in the perinatal field. She accepts referrals from GPs, obstetricians, psychiatrists and individuals. She is experienced in the use of a variety of therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions and relationship-based approaches to treating perinatal mood disorders.

- Medicare Rebate: $88.25
- Out of Pocket: $161.75
Subsequent sessions FEES
- Duration: 50-60 minutes
- Fee: $200
- Medicare Rebate: $88.25
- Out of Pocket: $111.75
Medicare rebates are available to those who have a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from their GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. This must be in place prior to the first claimable session.
